We are a youth-led agricultural research and development centre that promotes sustainable insect solutions to address plant and soil health challenges in the face of climate change.
We envision a future where insect-based solutions are integral to agricultural practices, reducing reliance on synthetic chemicals while enhancing productivity, food security and environmental sustainability in Sierra Leone.
Specialised in mass production & application of insects and their by-products as biological control agents for pest arthropods, protein for livestock and humans and organic fertiliser for soil improvement.
Value: Enhancing circular economy, better production, nutrition, environment and life with insects.

Our Research Focus
Our research focuses on understanding the taxonomy, biology and ecology of the most disturbing arthropod pests (e.g., fall armyworm, white fly and fruit fly) and their natural enemies in Sierra Leone.
By extension, we seek to unveil how landscape configuration, climate change, and pesticide use affect pollinator health and well-being, as well as the biological control of pest arthropods to develop an integrated management solution.

Over-reliance on livestock products amid mounting environmental concerns is unsustainable. EntoTech seeks to design technologies for extracting protein from common insects in tropical countries. Discover the potential of insect-based protein as a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative for human consumption.

Insects in tropical countries are promising alternative protein sources for livestock and fisheries industries. Their frass is considered an organic fertiliser capable of improving soil health. Our research explores techniques for mass-rearing insects as protein sources and optimal crop response to frass.

Winner of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio’s Presidential Innovation Award 2025, receiving a $30,000 prize under the Sierra Leone Innovates – Big 5 Innovation Investment Challenge for our insect-based organic fertiliser, which uses black soldier flies to convert organic waste into high-protein animal feed and nutrient-rich fertiliser.
EMPOWERING AFRICAN ENTREPRENEURS
After being incorporated in March 2023, our organisation was selected as a beneficiary of the 2023 Tony Elumelu Empowering African Entrepreneurship Program. This funding allows us to expand our research on Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae as a source of livestock protein and its frass as an organic fertiliser.

Our CEO received the award from the Chief Minister, the Minister of Communications, Technology and Innovation and Minister of Planing and Economic Development.

We are committed to achieving the following United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals directly or indirectly.
